Testing Summary:
I feel that overall the testing went over well and my legs felt fresh even
though it was a 6 am practice. I am slightly overweight, but with more intense
workouts to come I am sure several pounds will be shed. Goal weight should be
under 170. My vertical jump of 30" is right where it should be at this point in
the season. Flexibility is slightly below par, and will need to improve within
the next several weeks. My explosive power with the med ball is not great but
not horrible.
My standing triple jump was a disappointment. 27'3" is pretty weak, and should
be hitting over 30 feet. As training goes on my torn quad will get stronger and
balance everything out.
The biggest disappointment were the 40 yard dashes. They were from a still
position, and I felt like I had NO explosiveness off the line. My speed has
never been anything to brag about and this will be a huge focus this season!!! I
see many sled dawg pulls in the future. Overall the testing went strong, and I
see a promising season ahead of myself and Mike. We both are anticipating some
sky jumps!

Testing Summary:
Today was a huge improvement overall from last month's test. My weight is
still slightly overweight. I would have thought my vertical would have improved
but it seemed that my single leg strength/power has really taken its own. I'm
not too sure why I dropped .25 of an inch. Flexibility is improving, and my med
ball explosiveness was also a huge improvement.
The standing long jump/triple jumps had the largest improvements. Newhard and
myself feel that we should break 10 & 30 feet soon. The 5 stride bounds also
went over extremely well, however the 40 yard dashes were my best area of the
day. My speed has never been great and today I was very consistent and felt much
faster than I have ever felt in my life.
Mike and I took some practice jumps @ 6'4" and cleared easily even with rubber
legs after the testing. We left the facility with our heads high and spoke of
being accepted into the Millrose games. |
